Grenada

Grenada is the last of the main Caribbean chain, with a gap south before heading out to Trinidad and Tobago. It is a lush island, with tropical rain forests in the centre and is generally considered to be outside the main hurricane zone. For this reason alone, Grenada was to be the place I left Blue Dolphin for 2 years!

Grenada was hit by Hurricane Ivan in 200? but has mostly recovered, other than a few buildings awaiting additional repairs!

Sailing down the West coast, the first good anchorage is probably St George, which is the capital of Grenada. You can enter the main harbour, but then head to the right and into the lagoon area where you can anchor safely. provisioning is easy, with a pretty good supermarket on the shoreline, with a dinghy dock right opposite. Island Water World are also on the edge of the lagoon, with good chandlery and friendly service from Jonathan. They also provide free wi fi for yachts in the lagoon!

I hired a car for a couple of days and toured the island. here are a few photos from a day out!

Concord Falls on the East coast.

And the view of St Davids Marina from my boat!
